Christmas isn't Christmas without a few tales. One of those is A Christmas Story with that now infamous line, "You'll shoot your eye out." Buy A Pony For Christmas!

For the past few weeks, my little guy has been playing with two products from Fisher Price. The first is the adorable Laugh & Learn™ Smart Bounce & Spin Pony! It's a great developmental toy for children ages 12-36 months! When I first set it up in our living room, Sam wasn't too sure about it. He pretty much avoided it until his big brother showed him all the sounds it could make! After brushing off his fear, he had enough courage to throw one leg over this cute little pony and he began rockin' out to crazy tunes. Those crazy tunes are still stuck in my head. But that's not bad! I kind of like them! Out of our "living room collection" of toys, this is Sam's favorite by far. It is interactive with the television, but Sam has yet to try this feature. We are trying to limit viewing at least until he is two! I love this pony and I get such a kick out of seeing Sam get so excited! This toy is great because it can be used in a number of ways. It all begins with a bounce, which is easy to do! The friendly pony bounces and spins with your child, and rewards your child with playful music and sounds, even without the TV. When you set up the wireless TV connection, baby’s actions make big things happen on screen! There are three levels of learning and this "grows" with your child! It requires 3 AAA and 3 C batteries. I will say that there is a definite squeak to the pony when your child is rockin' out! It wasn't too bothersome because we were all caught up in Sam's great time, but it can be loud. If you are trying to watch television, this might be better off in another room. This is one toy where the fun factor more than makes up for the annoyances!

Sam has also been playing with a Laugh & Learn™ Fun With Friends™ Musical Table! My parents bought one for Logan several years ago and while the features have changed, this toy is just as fun as ever. I love the updated features! This table is packed with things to do! We all gather around this table and take turns playing. The legs are removable so I can lay it flat on the couch or my lap, or we can play with it on the floor! The table is very secure and Sam has even tried climbing on top of it! No wobbles, no worries, yet! I keep this table in Sam's room and he plays with it often. When he first received it, he played with it constantly and he would have a tantrum if we moved it. This toy is great for toddler side by side play too! Each side of the table has an entire interactive learning center with lights and a friendly character who invites your baby to play, encouraging movement and exploration all around the table. If your child wanders away, the table will gently call your child back with a burst of sound and lights! Your child can learn letters, numbers, counting, first words, colors, shapes, opposites, animals and much more—in English and Spanish! You and your little one will enjoy sing-along songs, tunes, real instrument sounds and a variety of music styles. It requires 3 AA batteries for play.

Warning: Certain Antibiotics May Be Associated With Birth Defects
One of the most popular classifications of medications used throughout pregnancy are antibiotics. Many of the common drugs used by pregnant women such as penicillins, erythromycins, and cephalosporins have been considered safe with minimal risk of birth defects. However, with the creation of more resistant bacteria and the development of newer drug classifications, more choices have recently become available with less data and safety information available for use in pregnancy.
A recent study published by Crider, from the CDC’s National Center for Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities, published in the Archives of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine, November issue, discussed the association of birth defects found in pregnant women taking antibiotics anytime from one month before conception through the end of the first trimester.
The study involved 3,863 case mothers and 1,467 controls in a retrospective analysis that showed associations between exposure to certain antibiotics and birth defect outcomes. It did not attribute any causal relationship. In addition, the study was done by telephone interview approximately 6 weeks to 2 years after the pregnancy which could result in an inaccurate recall of medications.
Results showed confirmation of safety profiles for the commonly used penicillins, erythromycins, and cephalosporins. However, several other antibiotics commonly used in pregnancy to treat urinary tract infections, such as sulfonamides and nitrofurantoins, were associated with several birth defects. Among the defects for the nitrofurantoins (Macrobid) were anophthalmia or microphthalmos, hypoplastic left heart syndrome, atrial septa1 defects, and cleft lip with cleft palate. Associations with sulfonamides (Bactrim and Septra) were more numerous and included anencephaly, left sided heart defects, coarctation of the aorta, choanal atresia, transverse limb deficiency, and diaphragmatic hernia.
In conclusion, more data is needed to further analyze these associations of potential adverse effects on the fetus with the use of these medications. In the meantime it is always prudent to use the commonly prescribed medications as first line therapy where possible negative effects are almost nonexistent.

The Gifts That Save!

Guess what I did!!?? I cut Logan's hair! And it actually looks good! I say good because I need a little more practice. About two years ago, I got the bright idea to save some money, and I took a set of clippers to Logan's head. It looked worse than the time Logan's Grandpa took the flowbee to his hair and vacuumed off his top. Yikes! I vowed never again to touch his hair. I Believe

I enjoy trying new things, especially baby skincare products! I love my children to smell natural, not artificial and when I find a product that delivers, I love to share! K'NEX Building Sets!

Logan loves to create. Long ago, he started building with blocks. After blocks, he used Legos, Lincoln Logs, and anything else he could get his hands on. Recently, he was sent a set of K'NEX to try out! At first, I just thought this was going to be like Legos. Little pieces were going to wind up all over the house. I also thought the pieces would get stuck together and I was going to be called ofter to separate them. This was surprisingly not the case. I watch what my oldest watches, and when my youngest begins watching television, I suppose not much will change. There may be more fights over the remote control, but I am betting as long as the dinosaur train keeps pulling out of the station for educational adventures, we will all be happy! The storyline is brilliant and the cast of characters are simply endearing. Logan has had a life-long love of dinosaurs. He has dinosaur shirts, toys, coloring books, and he always collects dinosaur souvenirs when we go to museums that feature what's left! He loves anything dinosaur! I don't. I like them, but I'm not really into them. Or at least that's what I would've told you before watching my first episode of DINOSAUR TRAIN! Alot of thought was put into the design of this family tent and you will appreciate the easy assembly, glow in the dark zip pulls, gear loft, and the superior ventilation system. The tent is a bit heavy for me to handle on my own, but with a little practice (and some help) I can have it set up in about 30 minutes. That may seem long to you, but I am new at this and I think it's pretty good considering it's my first! There is plenty of room for a playpen, airbed, several sleeping bags and coolers. I love the roominess because I can move around without feeling too confined and I am not tripping over everyone else! My children can have a small play area, which keeps them happy, and we all know that is the secret to a happy camping trip!

GIMMEE Jimmy's Cookies Please. And GIMMEE Special Savings TOO!

You all know I have a sweet tooth. You may not know that I am very picky. Sometimes I am so picky, it drives my family mad. I love chocolate, but there are some chocolates that I will not touch. If I am going to gain a pound, then it better be worth it. Recently, I was sent a grand gourmet kosher-certified cookie assortment from GIMMEE Jimmy's Cookies. They are self described as "Gourmet Cookies. Perfected." I think that's being way too modest! The box that was sent to me was the Classic Cookies Assortment. Chocolate Chunk, Peanut Butter, Chocolate Chip M&M, Oatmeal Raisin and the classic Sugar Cookie were packed neatly inside. No cookies were harmed in packing or transport. They all arrived safe and sound!

Oatmeal Raisin. I passed on these. They looked and smelled amazing, but I hate oatmeal and I hate raisins. Sorry. My husband took one and tried very hard to tempt me. He loved them! And that says alot because my husband has the willpower to abstain from cookie eating, unlike me. He simply could not turn his back on these gourmet kosher-certified treats. The cookie was moist and flavored to perfection. My children each took a great, big bite. Sam, my baby, groaned the loudest "Mmmm" I think I have ever heard. He was like a bird at my husband's feet with his little mouth open awaiting his next bite! I would buy these for that picture alone. It was a special treat and a very special moment! Gourmet kosher-certified Peanut Butter Cookies. Now were talkin'! My grandmother makes the best peanut butter cookies. Or at least that's what I thought, until I tried these! Rich peanut buttery cookies that actually melt in your mouth. They are packed with peanut flavor and a richness that I cannot describe. Sugar Cookies are one of my favorite types of cookies. These sugar cookies rival one of my faves. They do not beat them, but I would say I love them just as much. That's as honest as I can get. Not too sweet, just perfect in it's simplicity. I had one gourmet kosher-certified sugar cookie with my hot cocoa! They make excellent dunkers! It did not fall apart and it soaked my hot cocoa up like it was made for it! The only thing missing is a little icing and sprinkles! Maybe that's going too far! What can I say, I do like festive cookies!

Chocolate Chunk Cookies. Remember that commercial, Betcha Bite A Chip? Well I betcha bite a big chunk of chocolate with these! They are PACKED with rich chocolate chunks and they will satisfy the most intense cravings. If you are hormonal, stressed, sad or anxious, this is the medicine for you. The gourmet kosher-certified cookies were the perfect consistency and the chocolate began to melt in my mouth as soon as I took a bite. These are some of the best ever! I have saved the best for last!!! I'm such a kid. I get excited with sprinkles and colors. When I order cookies, this is usually what I get! Chocolate Chip M&M Cookies! These are the best gourmet kosher-certified Chocolate Chip M&M cookies that I have tasted. Now don't get me wrong. I like other brands too, especially Great American Cookie Co. But GIMMEE Jimmy's Cookies do not fall apart and they are more like homemade.
