Bedding From Biltmore

I am in the process of redecorating my bedroom. We haven't finished the painting, flooring and trim, but I couldn't wait to share my beautiful new Biltmore bedding. I received the Biltmore For Your Home Frances Bedding Set. I love the gorgeous shade of blue. It's rich and luxurious, and it has exquisite embroidery on the top of the comforter and shams!  The comforter is trimmed with satin cord and the top of the comforter is framed with trim. The sides of the comforter are not embroidered. The crinkled bedskirt is in the same beautiful blue and it is the perfect length, barely touching the floor. The shams are zippered, so they are easy to stuff, and they are lined (on the inside of the decorative side) so colors will not shine through!
The soft gray blues in this delicately embroidered bed ensemble are inspired by the Old English room in the Biltmore House. Blue upholstered Jacobean style furniture was the inspiration for this blue color way. On display in the Old English room are several family portraits. Above the oak chest is a portrait of William Cecils grandchildren William and Frances painted in 1599 by the Italian artist Frederico Zuccaro (1543-1609).
I received the set, which includes a comforter, bedskirt and shams. Window treatments and decorative pillows are sold separately. The set is made of Embroidered Faux Silk and it's dry clean only. It's a Belk exclusive and it's imported.
This material is wonderful and the wrinkles (what few there were) fell out quickly. The comforter isn't heavy and it feels good on my skin. It's smooth, except for the embroidery. The raised flowers are velvety and they really add to the richness of the fabric. The ivory, gold, and blue colors in the flowers will give me plenty of decorating options!
This set isn't too girlie, even though it's covered with flowers. My husband, who's anti-floral, appreciated the luxurious look and feel of the bedding. Visit Belk and check out their Biltmore Collection! They have everything from bedding and towels to Christmas ornaments and cookware! Their products are great for giving and even bettter for receiving!
Disclosure: I was sent a bedding set in order to complete this review. No monetary compensation received.

Anytime Costumes Giveaway!

I didn't get into Halloween until last year. I had so much fun looking at my cousin's Halloween pictures, I decided I would give it a try and throw a party for my kids. We all dressed up and watched movies, ate candy, and met trick-or-treaters at the door. It was awesome! This year, my husband is off and I convinced him to dress up and have a little fun. He chose the Popeye Costume, after I begged and pleaded. Popeye is awesome! Or maybe it's just Robin Williams playing Popeye (in his younger days) that got me all excited. My dear husband, who (for some reason) prefers to remain anonymous, dressed up in his new costume. The pants have a simple elastic strip sewn around the waist. The shirt is a pullover with a Velcro collar. The belt and cap are very simple too. It fits well, except the upper arms of the shirt were very tight around my husband's arms. I almost had to cut them. My husband is no weight lifter, but he is an ex Army Ranger. The funny looking arms are not attached and they really need to be filled with something to puff them out. We will do this on the night of our party! All in all, we are pleased with the costume! It's lightweight and comfortable!

Plow & Hearth Giveaway!

It's only fitting that post number 1,000 is about one of my favorite companies. Long before I was a blogger, I was buying gifts from Plow & Hearth. They have always made quality products and they have always had the perfect gift when I wanted to buy for the person that has everything!
Recently, I received a Saf-T Grate for my fireplace. I used a regular grate for two years and it was literally on it's last leg. The other legs had warped from the heat! I wanted a long lasting grate that would not warp and last for more than a few seasons. I think I found the perfect grate! It's heavy! That was a great first impression. My husband put the legs on quickly using two bolts. It's still hot down here in South Georgia and lighting this fire was the last thing we wanted to do. After we did, we noticed  that Saf-T Grate's deep-bed construction keeps the logs in where they belong, so they won't roll forward. The self-feeding design keeps the wood and hot coals together, so our fire burned more efficiently with less smoke and it radiated more heat into the room. Oh my goodness, it really put out the heat!
It features:
Deep-bed construction keeps logs from rolling out.
Holes allow for proper ventilation of fire while keeping coals hotter, longer.
Heavy-duty, solid cast iron that will not warp or burn out.
It is available in two sizes:
Large 22"W front, 18"W rear, 16"D; 6 legs
Small 18"W front, 14"W rear, 12"D; 4 legs
The small was the perfect size for our fireplace! Our fire (three logs) lasted almost twice as long as similar fires using our old grate, and that's no exaggeration. I only used it once, and I am looking forward to using it when it gets colder! I am also looking forward to saving money on firewood!

Beware Of The Dragon!

This year, Sam had some input as to what he would be for Halloween. I watched as he excitedly pointed to a Dinky Dragon Costume at CostumeSupercenter.com. It was the cutest dragon I had seen and it looked like a costume that would wash well, which was important to us because our children dress up and play in their costumes year round!
The costume fit Sam so well! He's three, but he's small. This costume was a size 18-24 months. If your child is wearing a 2T, this would fit, and probably be a little roomy. Sam can wear a 2 or 3T in shirts, but he wears a 2T in shorts. The costume is well made and I think it will last! I love the bright colors. The only thing that bothered me (and Sam never complained about it) had to be the little red flame that hangs between his eyes. I kept wanting to push it out of the way! The wings snap on and off and the costume comes with little booties! The legs are lined with snaps and the costume zips up the back. The hood closes with Velcro under the chin. I LOVE it!

This dragon is sweet and we can't wait for Halloween so we can show our friends and family! Visit Costume Supercenter to find great infant Halloween costumes! They have a large variety of costumes for your entire family! They offer fast shipping and competitive pricing too!
Disclosure: I was sent this costume in order to complete this review. No monetary compensation received and honest opinions given.
Yeah, the wings are upside down in this picture! Sam has his Daddy to thank for that!

Darling Dresses For Little Girls!

It's nice to have an item in your closet that can take you through the seasons. It's even nicer when you can still wear it after you grow out of wearing it one way! I love pillowcase dresses for those reasons! They really help maximize a little girl's wardrobe because they can be worn as a summer dress, paired with a long sleeve tee for fall, and they can be worn with leggings when the weather turns cold! As a little girl grows taller, the dress can be used as a shirt and worn with jeans or leggings!
I've never reviewed a pillocase dress before this post. As a mom of two boys, I haven't had a chance to see one up close. A while back, I received one from Hush- A- Bye Mountain Boutique for a special baby shower. The dress was more than I imagined. All the intricate details, from the gorgeous embroidery to the lace trim, made this one of the cutest dresses I've seen.
The dress was finished beautifully and all the edges were perfect! The dress sent to us was upcycled, but she also creates dresses featuring gorgeous hand embroidery! Hush-A-Bye Mountain Boutique offers a rainbow of gorgeous bandana dresses, pillowcase dresses, baby wipe cases and more. Check her out on Etsy!

Butter Blossoms

I really enjoyed the delicious cookies sent by Butter Blossoms! We received little heart shaped Vanilla Butter Cookies dusted with sanding sugars, in a variety of colors to match our baby shower theme. They were shipped in time for our event and they all made it without any breakage! They were sent in sealed bags, according to color and I took a photo after opening them up, but the glare (I guess the sun was shining onto them) kept me from using the photo..
If this isn't an old family recipe, they have me fooled. The cookies are that good! Each cookie has a nice crunch and they are thicker than I expected. The cookies are rich and buttery and they melt in your mouth. Each mini heart cookie is about two bites. They are not overly sweet, even with the sugar on top!
Butter Blossoms cookies are so unique and they are so creative with their flavor combinations! Their hand rolled and cut cookies look stunning and they don't rely heavily on decorations because they don't need to. they are beautiful in their simplicity! The decorative cut edges give these cookies some old fashioned flair and they are sure to impress your guests. Check them out on Etsy! If you order their cookies after seeing them here, use coupon code blogsweet10 to save 10%!

Disclosure: I was sent mini heart cookies for a very special shower. No monetary compensation received and honest opinions given.

Boon Giveaway!

I've had a Boon Frog Pod for over three years. It is one of my favorite products because it makes having toys in the bathtub so easy! After bathtime, I scoop up all the toys and the water drains out because of the clever design! If I want to clean the toys, I spray them down with bleach while they are in the pod. After I finish cleaning the bathroom, I rinse them and hang them up to dry! The pod hangs on our tub surround and it has room for plenty of toys. Also, there is a little shelf on top for shampoo and body wash! My kids can also hang their mesh sponges up to dry. This is a brilliant product for parents with children that love play in the tub. It has saved me a lot of frustration. I remember, before I had the pod, picking up each and every toy and drying them on a towel before putting them away. I hated having toys in the tub because it meant so much extra work for me. Recently, Boon sent a Bug Pod for a very special baby shower. Since this was one of my favorite products, I requested it because I knew the mom-to-be would appreciate it! The Red Ladybug is so cute and I know it will last for years! If Logan and Sam haven't destroyed their Frog Pod after three years, it's well made and trust me, they put everything to the test! Check them out and be sure to stop by the Boon News Blog to find out more!
One US reader will win a Pod of their choice! To enter, leave a comment and tell me which  Pod is your favorite! A Sweet Giveaway From Pillsbury!

I've been missing out. How did I not know about Pillsbury Sweet Moments? When I was contacted and asked to review their new flavors, I immediately wondered about their older flavors! After I looked them up, I realized I had been deprived of Cocoa Caramel Obsession, Cocoa Fudge Chip, Cocoa Fudge Escape, Sweet Moments® Caramel Cheesecake, and Sweet Moments® Raspberry Cheesecake. I felt cheated...You know me and I'm all over anything chocolate. When I received the package, I was a little hesitant to try them. If the old flavors had been included, I would have eaten a bag before I could get the box completely open! Their new flavors are Caramel Cheesecake and Raspberry Cheesecake. I hate cheesecake. Until a year ago, I wouldn't even taste cheesecake anything. Now, I am more adventurous and I've even enjoyed cheesecake if it is loaded with chocolate and I can't recognize it as cheesecake. I tried the Caramel Cheesecake first. I had my best friend over and I broke out the bag. I took a bite and looked down at the other half. Cheesecake. A layer of plain cheesecake. Somehow, it didn't matter because the bite I took was incredible! The layer of moist brownie and ribbon of caramel in between, and the fact that it was dipped in chocolate made this little dessert a big hit! We loved them! Each "brownie" is two bites if you have company. If not, lucky you, because you don't have to share! Pop a whole one in your mouth and enjoy! This particular flavor is in my top ten favorite packaged desserts. I also tried the Raspberry Cheesecake. I didn't like it as much, but I'm not big on fruit and chocolate. Yes, I'm a picky eater if you haven't guessed. I did go out and buy the Cocoa Fudge Escape and Holy Cow they were great! It ranks number two on my list of all time faves! I could eat an entire bag. Warning, these are dangerous desserts. Eat with a friend (or two) if you still want to be able to zip your pants for best results! I found mine next to the refrigerated cookie dough!
Two of my readers will win a VIP coupon for Free Pillsbury Sweet Moments! US readers only. Giveaway ends midnight September 30, 2011. To enter, leave a comment and tell me your favorite Pillsbury product! For two bonus entries like Pillsbury Sweet Moments on Facebook and follow Pillsbury on Twitter.

Organic Baby Gift Boutique

I've purchased a lot of baby products in the past eight years. While I was pregnant with Sam, money was tight and I had to be careful where I spent our money. I researched both products and sellers. I looked for quality products that were made to last, and I purchased organic when possible. I stretched our dollars to the max! I am proud of what I accomplished. I am also thankful to companies that made stretching our dollars possible. Back then, I wasn't familiar with Organic Baby Gift Boutique. Now that I am, I really like what I see! They offer a full range of eco-friendly and organic baby products including baby clothes, organic skincare, glass baby bottles, eco-friendly baby gear along with items to create a green nursery. Moms and mom-to-bes looking for deals on organic products can find awesome savings on the sale page! They make it possible for anyone to buy organic! Moms on a budget will also love these cloth diapers! We saved a lot of money switching to cloth diapers and wipes. Organic Baby Gift Boutique offers a wide range of gifts for any budget. I loved looking through their products. Many products are items that I have purchased or reviewed in the past. I was really impressed with their selections! They sent us an organic baby gown for a very special mom-to-be. The gown was soft and well made. It was nice to know that the new baby would be wrapped in beautiful organic cotton, free of chemicals! I used baby gowns/sleepsacks with both of my children. Middle of the night diaper changes are easy because there is no need to wake your baby while you fumble around in a sleep deprived stupor. It was easy for both of us to get back to sleep fast! If you are looking for something special, check out Organic Baby Gift Boutique. They have wonderful gifts to fit any budget!

I Love My Ninja Kitchen System!

I love my new Ninja Kitchen System. It's gorgeous, sleek design looks great on my counter. But a pretty appliance has to work hard to earn a permanent place. I don't have enough space to leave a lot of small appliances out all the time. So, what makes this so special? Well, it makes ice cream!! It also takes the place of a food processor, blender, mixer, and juicer. The Ninja® Kitchen System is a professional, high-powered and high quality tool with outstanding performance, a true asset to any kitchen. It's the perfect appliance for ice crushing, blending, pureeing, and controlled processing. It works as a juicer, but leaves the pulp. All in all, it is pretty smooth and I don't mind the pulp because of the nutrients. The Ninja® KS1100 features a unique capability to knead dough for pizzas, breads, pretzels and cookies! I made dough a few nights ago and I didn't have to get my hands in it. It was awesome! It has a non skid base which makes it difficult to move. I like the non-skid feature because I am a little careless in the kitchen! It also has a locking base and and a lid and handle that must be secured before the unit will turn on. The pourable spout is ideal and means less mess for me!

With the Ninja® Kitchen System 1100, you'll receive the Ninja® Kitchen System Base and 40 oz. Processing Bowl with Blade and Lid , 72 oz. Pitcher with Blade and Lid, Whisk Attachment, Dough Hook and Dough Paddle. The large pitcher has a "column of blades" so it doesn't only chop near the bottom. The blades are very, very sharp (BE CAREFUL) and quickly turn ice into "snow" and it makes the best smoothies I've had! Ice cream is made by adding cold cream or milk, sugar, and frozen fruit. It doesn't take long for the frozen fruit pieces to freeze the cream. It is soft, but scoopable! When I make milkshakes, I do have to stop the Ninja and scrape the ice cream from the sides of the pitcher once or twice. That's the only time I have had a problem mixing things up! Speaking of mixing, when I mix cakes or dough, mixing starts out slow and speeds up. It does a great job! I have really enjoyed having it in my kitchen. It's easy to clean, so I don't hesitate to use it. I just rinse it out and put it in my dishwasher. Again, be careful when you remove the blades. If you have children that go into the dishwasher, make sure they don't touch the blades! I've used my Ninja at least every other day since I received it and I am always trying to use it for something new. I make a fruit smoothie (with protein powder) almost every morning. It's smooth and delicious! I haven't made smoothies with leafy greens, so I am not sure how smooth those would be. So far, I haven't had any problem getting a smooth consistency when making my creations! It's also nice that I can avoid climbing a step stool to get down my commercial juicer, heavy stand mixer, and ice cream maker. I only wish the pitchers were made out of glass. That's the only thing that would make this better. Get your Ninja Kitchen System here! It's made to last!

Nestle Family Back To School Giveaway!

Britax Roundabout 55

I've had a at least one car seat in my vehicle for the last eight and a half years. That doesn't make me an expert, but I do know a few things about them. Each time I've researched car seats, Britax was always in the top two or three. While I've never owned one, I wouldn't hesitate to put my child in one. I consider them one of the safest car seats made. What I didn't realize however, is they may be the most comfortable!
I received a Britax Roundabout 55 car seat. I chose this particular color (Smokey Pearl) for a special mom-to-be. I wanted something that would look great with any car interior. I LOVE the fabric. It's very plush! The padding  is awesome! Sam sat in it and he didn't want to get up! It seemed to be very supportive and it looks like long trips would be no problem! Sam said he liked it and he wasn't even asked. He never said that about the car seat we use. I hope he isn't disappointed to find his old car seat is still in our vehicle! Rear facing, the Roundabout 55 can be used with children weighing 5-40 pounds. Forward facing, it can be used with children that are one year old and weigh 20 pounds, and used until the child weighs fifty-five pounds. It's really all you need! And trust me, you'll appreciate the tangle free harness. I wish our car seat had that feature!
Features:
SafeCell™ Technology features SafeCells designed to compress in a crash, significantly lowering the center of gravity and counteracting the forward rotation of the child seat which normally propels the child toward the front seat
Integrated Steel Bars strengthen the connection to the vehicle and reduce forward flexing of the child seat during a crash
Energy-Absorbing Versa-Tether® features a staged-release tether webbing to slow the forward movement, reducing the crash forces reaching the child, and a two-point attachment to minimize forward rotation while anchoring the top of the child seat
Side Impact Protection comprised of deep side walls lined with energy-absorbing EPP foam distributes crash forces, shields from vehicle intrusion, and contains the head, neck and body
Tangle-Free, Five-Point Harness distributes crash forces across the strongest parts of the body and provides a secure fit
55-pound Weight Capacity for safety and comfort as your child grows
Rear and Forward Facing Recline for child comfort and positioning
High Density Comfort Foam provides an extra layer of padding to gently cushion your child
Two Buckle Positions for your growing child
Infant Positioning Insert may be necessary for small infants to achieve a snug fit of the harness around your child (sold separately)
Premium Lower LATCH Connectors for a quick and simple installation featuring a push button for easy release
Built-in Lock-Offs ensure a snug lap and shoulder belt installation with minimal effort
Anti-Slip, Contoured Base grips and protects the vehicle seat while offering optimum vehicle fit
Convenient Harness Holders keep harness straps out of the way when placing your child in the car seat
Certified for Aircraft Travel
Made in the USA with global components
I was impressed with the quality of this car seat. While I love our car seat, this has several features that made me like the Britax even more. The padding seemed like it would be more comfortable than ours, the fabric is softer, and the harness is tangle free. If I had it to do over again, I would probably go with the Britax. And no, I didn't have to say that!
Disclosure: I was sent a car seat for a special baby shower. No monetary compensation received and honest opinions given.

Yankee Girl Yummies

I love cupcakes and I think they are wonderful to have at parties. Individual cakes mean less mess and usually less work! When I decided to host a special baby shower, I searched for the perfect cupcake topper. I have never used cupcake toppers before, so I really had no idea what I wanted. When I found Yankee Girl Yummies on Etsy, I knew I found exactly what I was looking for!
I intended to use these cute little duck cookies as cupcake toppers. I really did! After receiving them, I was afraid they would not get the attention they deserved if I used them on my cupcakes. The plan for my cupcakes was to put them in clear favor cups for guests to take home, but I thought these ducks were too cute to cover! They found a home on my table in their own special serving platter!
The cookie toppers are baked on a stick and each cookie is a decent size bite of the most delicious buttery, vanilla cookie. The icing isn't overly sweet, and it goes perfectly with the cookie! Each cookie arrived in perfect condition and the details made them even more special. These would be great for a shower or a birthday, or to celebrate Spring or Easter!
I found so many original cookies at Yankee Girl Yummies! A lot of sites have different variations of the same cookie. Not here! I took one look at the cookies above and added them to my wish list. I don't let my children trick or treat. We have a small party at home and I make treat bags for them and we watch movies all night. These Halloween cookies would be perfect for their bags! I LOVE the spiders on each "cupcake!" They are so playful and the color combinations are bright and cheery!!
Yankee Girl Yummies has talent and creativity that extends well beyond the kitchen! Our guest of  honor also received a special gift for her new baby, a pretty bakery gift box containing cupcakes for baby! It was so sweet! It's a great shower gift and it will certainly be remembered. There was nothing plain or ordinary about it! Check out Yankee Girl Yummies on Etsy and you'll see why I love this store!
Disclosure: I was sent cookie cupcake toppers and cupcakes (for a baby) for a very special event. No monetary compensation received and honest opinions given.

Hot Wheels Nitro Speeders Giveaway!

My boys love playing with cars. The faster the better. When I was given an opportunity to review Hot Wheels Nitro Speeders, I couldn't resist! When the package arrived, I noticed how small it actually was. I also noticed that the car can be stored and charged in the controller. I don't know about you, but I can't keep toy parts together and this is perfect for my kids! I don't have to keep track of chargers or extra pieces! Playing with this little car is awesome! The controller is ultra sensitive and the highly responsive R/C car delivers amazing performance with scale speeds up to 600 mph! I haven't seen a faster toy car! The car corners nicely, and I had to try it on a ramp. It flew through the air and we couldn't put it down! The car comes with 4 AA batteries. This would make a great gift for Birthdays or Christmas! If giving for Christmas, the package is a little large for a standard Christmas stocking, so you may want to buy a larger stocking just put it underneath the tree! When the package is open, the controller is small enough to fit in a large pocket. Six racers are available. Collect them all!

One lucky US reader will win their very own Nitro Speeder! To enter, leave a comment and tell me your child's favorite Mattel product!
